Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie electronique PDF disponible au BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : identity reconstruction The Last Imam Oriental homeland Muslims' selfmisrepresentation Postcolonial theory Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : There are two Oriental approaches that dominated the system of oriental representation, configuring
ideological Orient that is defined in exclusive relation to its counterpart, the West. In return, the system
gradually weakened the Orient's independent authentic self-representation. These approaches are the
Postcolonial and the counter-neo-oriental Diaspora tides. The aim of thisstudy is to assess the far-reaching
trajectory of Oriental representation and identity reconstruction. The focus of this thesis entails exploring
the background of these two approaches, assessing their performances concerning the nature of Oriental
representation produced, and recommending shiftsof focus to Eastern standpoints-the East. The research
method consists of a wide textual review of relevant literature on both theories, coupled with a literary
critical analysis of Ibrahim Tahir's TheLast Imam. Generally speaking, this novel identifies Muslims' selfmisrepresentation in Muslim- majority countries as one central fracture. The latter can be taken further to
reflect other weaknesses at the epicenter of Oriental homeland self-representation. The main conclusion
drawn from this study is that the Orient is proven guilty of its own conceptual domestic distortion, and it is
held accountable for its reconstruction of identity and self-presentation preeminently in its homeland.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=15812 Analysis of the Oriental Representation and Identity Reconstruction of the Orient: Muslims' Homeland Misrepresentation of Islam in Ibrahim Tahir's Novel The Last Imam [texte imprimé] / Ouissam Benharkou, Auteur ; Hadda Slimani, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2021 . - 58 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : Milkman’s American Identity in Toni Morrison’s Song of Solomon Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Nousseiba Tebbani, Auteur ; Hadda Slimani, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2020 Importance : 84 f. Format : 30cm. Note générale : Une copie electronique PDF disponible au BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Song of Solomon Milkman African-American American identity hyphenated identity double-consciousness American Creed incorporationism mask masquerade. Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : “African-American” is a label that was attributed to former African slaves in the USA after they
gained freedom and started claiming their rights as American citizens and is still used today.
As this hyphenated name suggests, those newly freed slaves wanted to integrate their African
heritage into their American citizenship, but the name also alludes to a doubled identity that
lives inside each one calling him/herself an African-American, one is African and the other is
American. They are Africans by heritage, but what makes them Americans is the centre concern
of this study. The components of American identity are therefore investigated through the view
of political philosophy and then are traced in the life of Milkman, the protagonist in Toni
Morrison’s 1977 novel Song of Solomon. The result of this projection determines his identity
and draws conclusions on the accuracy of the label African-American as an identifying label to
the black community in America. Milkman, in the first part of the novel, was an American by
means of American creed. He was favoured by the rights that the people of his race were denied.
However, his Americanism was fake and superficial because he only enjoyed those rights as a
result of imitating the lifestyle of the white American, which masked his blackness. He also did
not respect any of the American values that an authentic American is supposed to adopt. It was
only in the second part of the book when he went on a journey to South that he learned those
values, and he was able to learn and adopt them only when he let his ethnic culture emerged
into his American one. Therefore, he proved his authentic Americanism and the adequacy of
Schildkraut’s view on incorporationism as an essential component of the American identity.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=13855 Milkman’s American Identity in Toni Morrison’s Song of Solomon [texte imprimé] / Nousseiba Tebbani, Auteur ; Hadda Slimani, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2020 . - 84 f. ; 30cm.

Titre : Pain and Emotion in the Demise of Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Oussama Benslama, Auteur ; Hadda Slimani, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2020 Importance : 77 f. Format : 30cm. Note générale : Une copie electronique PDF disponible au BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Utopia Huxley Pain Emotion Masochism Biotechnology Transhumanism . Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present study is an analysis of Aldous Huxley novel Brave New World. It investigates
the possible breakdown of the author’s human utopian vision. Using the views of Fyodor
Dostoyevsky on suffering, the theory of Theodor Reik on moral machoism, the thoughts of Michel
Foucault on deinstitutionalization, as well as other ideas that fall within the same philosophical and
psychological framework, the work examines the concepts of pain and emotion in relation to the
utopian society in order to reveal its potential weaknesses. The analysis of selected events and
actions made by certain characters proves that they are influenced by personal desires instead of
rational reasoning which could threaten the stability of their utopia. It also reveals the existence of
a bound vulnerability within any human society which forces human beings to eventually submit
to the limits that are set by their creator.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=13389 Pain and Emotion in the Demise of Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World [texte imprimé] / Oussama Benslama, Auteur ; Hadda Slimani, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2020 . - 77 f. ; 30cm.

slavery which is accounted for in his autobiography Twelve Years a Slave. The first chapter is a
historical background which provides an overview of slave trade and the social conditions that
slaves witnessed in America, and a literary background to the slave narratives in America. The
second chapter consists of two parts. The first part deals with the depiction of different types of
dehumanizing processes Solomon was subjected to, and shows the perception of black people by
whites through their behavior with them. The second part shows Solomon’s will to regain his
liberty and how his education and preceding status as free man prevent him from admitting the
status of a slave. In spite of all the obstacles, Solomon never felt hopeless and kept trying until he
finally found a way to freedom.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10024 The dehumanizing experience of solomon northup in twelve years a slave [texte imprimé] / Mohammed Himer, Auteur ; Hadda Slimani, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2018 . - 61 f. ; 30 cm.
