It has been hypothesised that if students rely on those strategies they will succeed in translating proverbs faithfully. To test the validity of this hypothesis, a student’s questionnaire, and a test have been administered, the former aims at collecting data about students’ opinions towards translation in general and translation of proverbs in particular, whereas the latter which is made up of fifteen English proverbs to be translated for the purpose of knowing the students’ strategies mostly used. The results obtained from both tools; show that students’ level in translating proverbs is somehow acceptable despite the difficulties they face in their translation task.
