Transportation Engineering PhD students are now, working on a research paper that must be
written in English, since it is published on an international scale. They face some crucial
issues when dealing in English and this goes to, the lack of the good training in English, in
addition to the English courses’ programs that are applied at science departments which do
not meet the students’ needs. This study goes over investigating whether science and
technology learners are aware of the importance of English and if they are looking forward
to develop their skills in English. Therefore, it is hypothesized that if the Algerian
departments of Science and Technology, apply a new syllabus in teaching the English
language including new techniques in teaching EST courses, students would have a better
level in English and they would be eager and interested more in learning English seriously.
A questionnaire and a test were set to assess a sample of 07 PhD students of Transportation
Engineering at Zarzara, University of Constantine1. The findings obtained revealed that
students are aware about the importance of English and they are interested in seriously
learning the language, and this affirmed to some extent the given hypothesi |
