The present research attempts to find a balance between teachers and students roles of
interaction in the classroom and to make third year students of English more interactive and
communicative through applying effective methods and techniques mainly the cooperative
approach. For this purpose it is hypothesized that The use of cooperative learning approach
will help students in enhancing classroom interaction for EFL students in the English
department at Frères Mentouri University, Constantine. Data were collected through two
research instruments which are: teachers and students questionnaire. The analyzed results
revealed that most teachers prefer implementing cooperative learning approach as the most
effective method to enhance classroom interaction like: group work, pair work. On the other
hand, students prefer to choose the topic of discussion in order to be more motivated and
integrated in the discussion. As a result, our hypothesis is confirmed. This research work
ended by some recommendations that EFL teachers may implement to promote classroom
interaction |
