YouTube videos are taking over the field of education for being effective pedagogical aids in
teaching/learning L2 listening comprehension. The present study seeks to investigate the
pedagogical implementations together with the crucial role of YouTube videos in developing
EFL learners‘ listening comprehension. We hypothesize that EFL Master 1 students‘ exposure
to YouTube videos inside the classroom while learning the English language would likely
improve their listening comprehension skill. As a means of testing the previously mentioned
hypothesis, two questionnaires are designed. The first one is administered to a random sample
of 30 Master 1 students at the Department of Letters and the English Language, University of
Frères Mentouri, Constantine1. The second questionnaire is handed to a random sample of 10
teachers of oral expression from the same Department. Our hypothesis has been confirmed
through both questionnaires as both teachers and students showed positive attitudes towards
the use of YouTube videos inside the classroom. Based on both questionnaires‘ answers the
findings also show that EFL learners are highly motivated and optimistic when it comes to the
use of YouTube videos inside language laboratories as a means to improve their listening
comprehension skill. |
