Résumé : |
The current study probes the role of educational YouTube videos in improving EFL learners’
speaking skill. The major aims of this study seek to investigate the role of educational
YouTube videos in improving learners’ speaking skill, and find out what are teachers’ and
students’ attitudes towards the incorporation of these videos inside the classroom. In this
respect, the basic hypothesis adopted in this work indicates that if teachers have positive
attitudes towards educational YouTube videos, they would implement them inside the
classroom to enhance Second year EFL learners’ speaking skill. In order to test this
hypothesis, we have designed a Students Questionnaire which was administered to a
randomly selected sample consisting of 30 second year students at the English department of
Constantine University 1; and a Teachers Questionnaire which was administered to a sample
of 15 teachers who have been teaching Oral Expression at the same department. Both
questionnaires investigated their perspectives on the implementation of these videos as a
pedagogical tool in the classroom and inquired about their attitudes on the use of these videos
in improving the speaking skill. The analysis of the data gathered yielded that both teachers
and students have positive attitudes towards the use of educational YouTube videos in
enhancing learners’ speaking skill, thus, confirming our hypothesis. |
