Résumé : |
an McEwan’s novel Atonement is a the story of a young talented girl, Briony, who
dreams to become a novelist but her misinterpretation of the adult world leads her to ruin the
lives of her older sister Cecilia and an old family friend, Robbie Turner. The fertile
imagination of the girl will cause a drama that changes forever their destiny. This study
focuses on postmodernist literature techniques mainly metafiction and its narrative style as the
author switches from an original multiple narration perspective to thethird person omniscient.
All to demonstrate the postmodern assumption of reality, meaning that events and history do
not come with absolute reality and meaning but a deconstructed one. It will also discuss the
protagonist’s journey and her pursuit of morality towards atonement. |
