Résumé : |
This dissertation seeks to examine the effectiveness of role play as a technique used to
improve EFL students’ speaking skill. The ultimate goal is to make use of this technique for
the sake of developing the students’ oral production. Accordingly, the present dissertation
hypothesizes that role play has a positive effect on enhancing EFL students’ speaking skill.
To achieve the aim of this study, two questionnaires are administered to both OE teachers and
Third Year LMD students, at the department of English, at the University of Frères Mentouri,
Constantine to obtain their points of view about the effectiveness of role play on developing
the students’ speaking skill. The interpretation of the results has shown that role play is a
beneficial technique that can be used to help students to use the FL correctly and fluently.
Moreover, it is clearly noticed that the teachers and the students who have participated in this
study hold positive attitudes towards implementing role play in teaching/ learning English as
a foreign language. That is to say, the results obtained from the two questionnaires confirm
the hypothesis of the current research. Therefore, the authors of this dissertation highly
recommend the use of role play in EFL classes. |
