Résumé : |
This research work is an analysis study, aims to investigate the effects of the Industrial
Revolution on the social conditions of the working class in Britain. From the 1760’s to the
beginning of the 1800’s Britain witnessed massive change in both the economic and social
aspects. This work is a series of evidences which proves that the Industrial Revolution
contributed in the development and prosperity of the British economy through the
technological and scientific advancement by the creation of new inventions. Those inventions
were the turning point that opened the way to the industry, agriculture and transportation to
move forward. Although, the Industrial Revolution contributed in the prosperity and
development of the British economy, it also extremely harmed the social conditions at that
period. The Industrial Revolution created a huge gap between the old and new class order,
resulting the emergence of new classes and disappearance of old ones. Particularly, it affected
the conditions of the poor working class from worse to worst. Their living, working and
health condition were enormously cruel. The unsanitary conditions of work in dirty factories
and the life in the filthy slums led to the spread of killing diseases because of the lack of
hygiene. In addition, the revolution did not mercy the children and women from being
exploited by the factory owners; since they worked for long hours and got low wages. This
research will depict that the poor working class was the most to suffer from the effects of the
Industrial Revolution on their conditions. |
