Résumé : |
In the foreign language classroom, interaction is a necessity to achieve certain teaching goals,
and since communication is more than just words, teachers have to give importance to the
silent language, this implies the non-verbal messages that they send and receive in the
classroom. Unfortunately, some teachers seem not to realize the importance of using nonverbal communication on the interaction process. Therefore, we conducted the present
research for the aim of exploring teachers and students‟ attitudes towards the use of nonverbal communication to enhance classroom interaction. Hence, we hypothesize that if
teachers hold positive attitudes towards effective non-verbal communication, they would use
it to promote classroom interaction. In order to carry out this study, two questionnaires were
used; one was administered to a sample of ten (10) teachers and another to thirty-five (35)
students at the Department of Letters and English, University “Frères Mentouri”, Constantine.
The results of the research go in the direction of our hypothesis, they revealed that both
teachers and students have positive attitudes towards the use of non-verbal communication
due to its significance on the interaction process. |
