Résumé : |
The recent development in technology has influenced all aspect of life including higher
education. The present research attempts to investigate teachers’ and students’ attitudes
towards blended learning, as well as checking whether it could be implemented, and to
call the teachers to use it as it can be a solution for the problems that they do face during
class session including: low motivation, inability to provide the feedback to each
student, low interaction…etc. Therefore, we hypothesize that the more EFL teachers of
oral expression combined online learning with face to face learning (blended learning),
the more second year EFL students at the Department of Letters and English Language,
Fréres Mentouri University, Constantine 1 would be motivated to speak. To check the
validity of the mentioned hypothesis, and to answer the research questions, two
questionnaires are designed. The first questionnaire is devoted to second year students
at the department of letters and English language, Constantine University. From a
population of 321 students, 32 are selected randomly. The second questionnaire is
assigned to 8 oral expression teachers at the same department. The results obtained from
both questionnaires reveal that both teachers and students have a positive attitude
towards blended learning and the majority of them already use technology. Thus, it
would be easy to implement it. Also, the majority of the teachers claim that blended
learning will help students to develop both their motivation and their speaking skill.
Hence, it is recommended to adapt the blended learning approach using one of its
models the “flipped classroom” as the starting point for implementing blended learning. |
