Résumé : |
The present study determines the relationship between chatting language and the academic
writing. It takes into account the importance of the formal writing of the EFL learners, and
displays that the use of technology is not constantly beneficial to the students‟ performance
because of the kind of messages and the language of chat they use. 10 written expression
teachers were randomly selected to represent the whole population. So, the present study sets
out to shed light on the effects of chatting language on the students written expression from
the English Department at the University Frères Mentouri/Constantine-1-. One research
hypothesis is tested. If EFL learners are usual chatters, their written production would be
negatively affected. The data are collected by mean of a questionnaire which consists of three
sections; the first section consisted of 03 questions, the second one contains 05 questions, and
the last one also contains 05 questions. The data are collected in order to gather information
about the effects of chat language on the students‟ writing skill as well as their academic
writing. The results of the analysis clearly show that the students‟ academic writing truly
affected by the usual use of the chat language. |
