Résumé : |
Speaking English is essential nowadays since it is a globally recognized language in almost
all fields. Thus, if foreign language learners want to be fluent and good speakers, they need to
use some helpful strategies. Knowing that classroom learning is not enough for language
learners, one of the important strategies used by some foreign language learners to develop
speaking skill is watching movies and series in English. The aim of the present study is to
explore the students‟ attitudes concerning watching movies and series in English as a
learning/teaching strategy and whether it helps them develop their speaking skills. Therefore,
it is hypothesized that if students have positive attitudes towards watching movies and series
in English, they would use it as a learning strategy to enhance their speaking skills. For this,
the researcher conducted one questionnaire that was given to a sample of fifteen (15) Second
year students at the Department of Letters and the English Language, Des Fréres Mnentouri
University, Constantine. The results of the analysis of the questionnaire reveal that the
majority of students agree on the fact that watching movies and series in English develops the
speaking skills and that they use it to learn the language and so develop their speaking skill
and this confirm our hypothesis |
