The present research aims at investigating the role of YouTube videos in enhancing the speaking
skill of English student’s as a foreign language Frères Mentouri University, constantine1. The
speaking skill is one of the main skills that can be achieved through watching YouTube videos,
which makes learners of English as a foreign language more capable to practice their speaking
skill with their teachers during oral sessions. For this purpose, we aim to shed light on the role of
you tube videos in enhancing the speaking performance of English learner’s as a foreign
language. We hypothesized that when English as a foreign language learners are exposed to you
tube videos in the target language, their speaking performance will be fostered. To check the
validity of the hypothesis, we relied on one main research tool which is the questionnaire. In this
respect, the data of this research have been collected throughout two questionnaires designed and
administered to eighteen teachers of Oral Expression and forty three first year students of
English at Frères Mentouri University, constantine1.The results showed the effectiveness of
using you tube to improve the students’ oral performance, and the students’ high motivation and
readiness to learn through this method. Accordingly, it is highly recommended to implement the
use of YouTube videos in the curriculum of Oral Expression at University. In accordance with
the final results, some of the recommendations have been suggested by the researcher. |
