Code switching is seen as a suspicion in EFL classes. The present research aims to investigate
teachers’ and students’ attitudes toward the use of code switching in EFL classrooms.
Therefore, a hypothesis is formulated to check whether teachers’ and students’ code switching
in EFL classes will have a positive impact on the teaching and learning processes or not. To
reach this end, a questionnaire has been used as a research tool; one administrated to SecondYear students of English, and another one to teachers of English at the department of English
at Mentouri University Constantine in the academic year 2019/2020. The results of the analysis
and interpretations of the data compiled from both questionnaires display that students do not
share the same opinions and attitudes with teachers towards code switching in EFL classrooms.
The findings indicates that the use of code switching inside EFL classroom has an impact on
both teachers and students in teaching and learning processes. |
