Résumé : |
This dissertation represents a close up study about nonverbal behaviour and how much this
latter can influence interaction inside the classroom. The study investigates teachers`
perceptions about how impactful their nonverbal communication can be on classroom
interaction. Interaction plays a fundamental role in teaching and learning, thus interaction can
never be successful with the absence of a very prominent communication channel which is
nonverbal communication. For this sake, we hypothesize that if TEFL teachers use positive
nonverbal communication this would promote an effective classroom interaction. The data of
this research was collected via a questionnaire addressed to fourteen TEFL teachers. The
eventual findings of this research confirmed our hypothesis and highlighted on how much
impact teachers` nonverbal communication can have on classroom interaction. Further, even
though teachers indicated the strong relationship between the variables of interest they could
refer to some limitations including their lack of knowledge about nonverbal communication
and the amount of energy and time controlling their nonverbal communication can take. |
