Résumé : |
n the light of the Covid-19 crisis, higher education is altering. Educators across the world are
attempting to address the most important educational problems posed by the pandemic, notably
the lockdown. As a result, they focus their efforts on online education. Nonetheless, changing
teaching and learning is extremely difficult. This research aims at investigating the difficulties
faced by both teachers and students particularly those related to internet connectivity, technical
preparedness and students’ motivation. A total of 52 EFL students and 11 EFL teachers at the
Department of Letters and English, “Fréres Mentouri” University, Constantine 1 participated in
this study. To collect data, two questionnaires were administered. A teachers’ questionnaire is
designed to provide valuable information about the teachers’ experience with the challenges they
face due to the sudden implementation of online learning. As well as students’ questionnaire,
which was administered EFL students to uncover the encountered challenges that embedded their
learning. From the data obtainedfrom both questionnaires, it was found both instructors and
learners faced challenges in terms of infrastructure problems such as lack of internet availability
and quality, lack of technological preparedness and remarkable change in the system of
