Résumé : |
Oral fluency is a highly important criterion to the mastery of the speaking skill and interacting
with others confidently and appropriately; however, it is challenging to achieve and sometimes
it causes problems for learners of English. The way fluency is taught has a huge impacton how
students build and improve their oral fluency. This research work aims at investigating the
effectiveness of using educational games in improving third year students’ oral fluency in Oral
Expression sessions, through teachers and students’ attitudes. Therefore, we hypothesize that if
teachers hold positive attitudes towards the use of educational games in Oral Expression
classes, they would use them to enhance students’ oral fluency. For the sake of checking the
validity of the hypothesis, two questionnaires were administered one for teachers of Oral
Expression and another to third year students at the Department of Letters and the English
Language, Fréres Mnentouri University, Constantine. Based on the data obtained from the
questionnaires, the hypothesis is confirmed to a certain extent because it has been proved that
there is a positive relationship between oral fluency and the use of educational games. In other
words, teachers and students hold positive attitudes towards the use of educational games in
Oral Expression classes to improve oral fluency. |
