Résumé : |
The present study aims to shed some light on one of the main problems that young learners
encounter which are anxiety and fear in acquiring a new foreign language. Anxiety and fear
are serious problems that have a massive effect on the learning process of English that is why
teachers should be aware of the strategies to follow in order to help their students. One of the
strategies is integrating educational games which are what our research proposes as an
effective strategy to reduce young learners’ fear and anxiety in the classroom. This research
aims to investigate the effects of using games on reducing students’ fear and anxiety. It is then
hypothesized that selecting games as learning strategy has a positive effect in helping students
in reducing fear and anxiety. To achieve the mentioned aim, an experimental study is
conducted; it is based on the analysis of data gathered from two questionnaires (pre and post
questionnaire) administered to (14) young learners of El Amir Adib’s kindergarten in
Constantine ; aged between (5 and 6) years old. After teaching young learners for 7 sessions
for 2 hours ;applying some educational games which would affect them positively The
obtained results of this study confirmed our hypothesis since it showed that the use of games
activities helped English as a Foreign Language young learners with the riddance of their
anxiety and fear. |
