Résumé : |
Creative writing is a kind of writing that is considered as an important element in any
language course; it helps students to express their thoughts, opinions, emotions,
imaginations, and to communicate ideas. Expressing one’s idea convincingly requires the
integration of a range of useful teaching and learning strategies among which precise
Vocabulary is of a great significance. This dissertation focuses on the impact of the lack of
Vocabulary on the Students ' creative writing tasks and the effect of having strong
vocabulary background in producing clear pieces of creative writing. It also aims at
determining to what extent the lack of vocabulary affects EFL learner’ creative writing.
We hypothesize to this effect that if third -year students at the department of letters and
English language, at Frères Mentouri University of Constantine, have a rich vocabulary
background, they will develop their creative writing and produce good pieces of writing.
To carry out this study, a group of thirty (30) third year students in the department of
Letters and English Language, at Frères Mentouri University Constantine 1 were invited to
fill -in- the gaps test and fill in a questionnaire. Additionally, a teacher questionnaire was
conducted with twelve (12) Written Expression teachers. The analysis of the results of the
above-mentioned tools of research revealed that Students face the problem of the lack of
Vocabulary, and that the latter negatively affects their creative writing. Thus, the
hypothesis was confirmed. |
