The scope of this study is to investigate the anxiety that 3rd year students have in speaking at
the Department of English at University of Constantine 1. For this, it was hypothesized that if
third year students learn to overcome their anxiety, they will speak better. To check the
hypothesis, a questionnaire was used, one for teachers of Oral Expression and one for the
sample students. The results show that indeed both teachers and students seem to be conscious
about the effect of anxiety on learning and that something has to be done to remove such
obstacle, so that EFL learners feel less anxious, strengthen their confidence and become better
and elegant speakers. Thus, the hypothesis is to some extent confirmed (H1) |
