The present study investigates the use of pause-think reading as a reading strategy by 1st year Master students of English as a foreign language in the Department of English at the University of Constantine. The hypothesis of this study is that if these students make use of pause-think reading as a reading strategy their grammatical performance would be affected. We hypothesize that the grammatical performance could be affected by the use of pause-think reading strategy. In order to verify this hypothesis, a questionnaire was administrated to the students in order to collect data about their awareness and their use of that strategy for enhancing their grammatical performance. The data obtained from that questionnaire indicate that those students of English use successfully pause-think reading. Yet they do not know what pause-think reading means exactly. |
