Résumé :	This work focuses on British India throughout the colonial period, in addition to the major reasons that led to this colonization, and the purpose that the British had to get control on the territories of India. This dissertation is divided into two main chapters. Starting with the history of India which is an important element to know about, and the major elements or events that took place during the colonial period, in addition to the empire that ruled India and how it did to get control of it. Ending with the final part which is about the decolonization and the partition of the two independent states, to find out if this end was the real fall of the British empire
