Résumé :	The present study seeks to investigate the difficulties Master One Applied Language students encounter in translating the US customary measuring units and especially those related to measure distance, weight and capacity from English into Arabic. It also draw attention to the appropriate methods and techniques that help producing high quality translation. In an attempt to do so, we have used a questionnaire and a translation test which have been administered to a random sample which was composed of 25 students. The analysis of the questionnaire has shown that 96% of the students use metric system in everyday life while almost all of them know little about the US measurement system. Likewise, the analysis of the test has confirmed that most students are unfamiliar with such measures and units. Consequently, they lack background knowledge and strategies of how to translate and deal with such terms successfully. As a result, some suggestions and recommendations have been provided to help our students overcome these problems and foster their skills in this field.
