The goal of students when learning a foreign language is to speak that language. However,
some students do not speak in classroom because they are afraid of making errors. The
existence of errors in students’ speaking performance is a natural aspect during the process of
learning. This study deals with teachers’ correction and its effect on students’ self-confidence.
We hypothesize that teachers’ corrective feedback would positively affect students’ selfconfidence
in the speaking . In order to investigate this phenomenon, two questionnaires are
addressed to third year students and oral expression teachers at the Department of English,
University of Frères Mentouri- Constantine, in order to collect data and obtain results liable
to enable us to verify the validity of our research hypothesis. The findings from questionnaires
have shown the importance and the positive effects of teachers' corrective feedback on
increasing students' self-confidence and motivating them to take part in the speaking class |
