Résumé : |
Pronunciation is regarded as one of the difficult skills that should be improved in
speaking foreign languages. The present research deals with enhancing second year
university students’ pronunciation of English through listening to and imitating native
speakers. It aims at getting insights into teachers’ attitudes towards the use of listening to
and imitating native speakers to enhance the poor pronunciation of some phonemes. Thus,
it was hypothesized that if second year university students could listen to and imitate native
speakers, their pronunciation would be enhanced. To confirm this hypothesis, we
investigate the case of second year students and teachers of oral expression in order to see
the way pronunciation is taught and how could students improve their poor pronunciation
through listening to and modeling native language. On this basis, we administered a
teachers’ questionnaire and a students’ test. The analysis of both teachers’ questionnaire
and students’ test show that listening to and imitating native speakers is a useful technique
to develop students’ poor pronunciation. |
