Rhetorical Expressions are considered as very important expressions that play a crucial role in enhancing students’ comprehension during the reading process. This present research aims at investigating the importance of mastering rhetorical expressions on students’ reading comprehension. The study is based on two means of research: teachers’ questionnaire and students’ test. The teacher’ questionnaire is addressed to teachers of master one literature and civilization. The questionnaire is to collect information about rhetorical expressions that teachers use and students of English option literature and civilization use and understand. The Students’ test aims at checking whether the students understand the rhetorical expressions used in both activities. In addition, the analyses of the questionnaire and the students’ test revealed that the students’ level in terms of comprehension is limited because they did not understand the rhetorical expressions that are included in both activities; we can say that understanding rhetorical expressions plays an essential role in enhancing students’ reading comprehension |
