Résumé : |
Despite the many researches by many prominent historians on the period of the Sixties in Britain, little was devoted to project the Cultural Revolution that took place during that period. Thus, it is quite interesting to investigate the process of the evolution of the Sixties Cultural Revolution in Britain, with the focus on the working-class youth as its generator. The youth culture and the music culture of the Sixties were the by-products of both, the post-Second World War affluence and the international influences coming mainly from America. These emerged rebellious subcultures succeeded in breaking all the taboos and drove the whole society into unprecedented era of secular permissiveness. Yet, the role the youth and music cultures played in the Cultural Revolution is still a matter of debate. Therefore this study cites the political, economic, social and cultural status of post-Second World War Britain, assesses the significance of youth culture and music culture, and argues for the existence of a Cultural Revolution during the Sixties in Britain, with the working-class youth at its forefront. |
