Résumé : |
This work examines the political situation in Britain before 1832 and the violent
crises that obliged the government to pass the Great Reform Act. Britain had a political
system manipulated by the aristocratic class through owning lands and boroughs. This
dominance projected the corruptive nature of elections when choosing parliamentary
representatives. The injustice of the British electoral system led to the emergence of
dangerous crises that threatened the stability of the country. Those crises originated from the
wave of radicalism that hit Britain after the French Revolution, radical ideas participated in
the foundation of societies and associations that claimed people's legitimate political rights.
Crises extended to include the Catholic question and the troubles resulted from the various
rejections of the reform bill. |
