Résumé : |
This study sheds light on some important historical events related to the
dismantling the Ottoman Empire desired by the European imperial powers, among
them Great Britain which effectively contributed to the decline
The desire of acquisition of territories in Europe and the Middle East pushed
Britain to adopt certain policies aiming to fragment the Ottoman Empire. That vast
Empire was both economic and strategic power for many countries among them
Russia, Austria, France, and Italy.
The Ottoman domination over the Mediterranean Sea, threatened other
neighbouring countries because of the Ottoman tax imposition over the sailing
vessels passing by the Strait of Gibraltar and the Suez Canal which is an obligatory
passage to Asia. The Ottoman prevalence over these strategic areas pushed some
European countries to ally and consider the Empire as an enemy to Europe.
The importance of this study reveals the plans adopted by the western powers to
dismount and divide the Empire, Also the after math of the Ottoman collapse
according to several reasons, and the initiation of Turkey on the ruins of the Ottoman
Empire. |
