Résumé : |
In spite of its importance, listening comprehension has received slight interest in language
instruction. Most learners seek to imitate native speakers talk; one way to provide real life
language listening practice is to implement authentic audiovisual materials as a means to improve
students’ listening comprehension. The fundamental purpose of this study is to present an
investigation designed to provide a concrete picture of the effectiveness of applying audiovisual
materials presenting the speakers’ non-verbal behaviors, and the inclusion of authenticity as an
important aspect in the selected materials to improve the students’ listening comprehension
proficiency. The investigation tools used in this research are a questionnaire and a test; both of
them were administered to third year LMD students to get a genuine information about the
subject under study. The educational settings in which this study took place is the Foreign
Language Department, Constantine University 1. After carrying out the research for checking the
students’ listening comprehension and the effect of authentic audiovisual materials in improving
this skill, the hypothesis was confirmed |
