In the present research, we aim at finding out if cognitive learning strategies are useful tools
to perform better in learning, in addition to what can motivation provide for learning.
Teachers and students are aware of the importance of these factors that influence learning
positively or negatively, depending on the appropriate use of each one. We hypothesize that if
students use these kinds of strategies appropriately this may motivate them to learn
successfully. In order to test the validity of our hypothesis, two questionnaires are conducted.
One for master 2 students of English, in the department of English University of Constantine,
registered in language sciences. The second questionnaire is directed to the teachers of
English in the department of English. The results obtained from teachers’ and students’
questionnaires construe that the use of cognitive learning strategies fittingly motivate students
to learn more, in addition motivation is found to be an important components to improve
learning. The data collected helped us to show the importance of using cognitive learning
strategies as well as motivating students to learn English as a foreign language |
