Résumé : |
The present dissertation aims at analysing the decline of the "Welfare State" in the
United Kingdom, which was introduced after the end of the Second World War by the leader
of Labour Party, Clement Attlee. It is important to know that the Labour Government did
more bad for the British people than good. In fact, due to the Welfare State system the
United Kingdom experienced another relative decline. This dissertation is divided into two
chapters. The first chapter focuses on the background in which the Welfare State was
introduced and explains the link between the Beveridge Report and Labour social reforms in
1945. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the failure of the Labour party in honouring
their promises that resulted in the end of the "post-war consensus." The second chapter
examines Thatcher's revolution against the welfare reforms including: public spending on
social security, housing, education and health care service |
