Résumé : |
This research work explores one of the most important works in Indian literature, The
Home and the World by Rabindranath Tagore. It focuses on the issues of nationhood and
Nationalism in India during the first years of the twentieth century. This study investigates
two main problems : the kind of nation that Tagore wanted his home India to be, and how the
nationalist spirit is harmful to the nation. The concept of the “nation ” has been much
discussed by scholars, but the novel we intend to study covers this issue in a way that is not
conventional in literary fiction. It also presents nationalism to the reader through different
perspectives giving him the floor to decide of the true nature of the movement. The aim of the
present research work is to demonstrate that Rabindranath Tagore had offered his country and
the world a new model of nation that evades fatal fanatism and brings harmony and freedom
to its people. |
