Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
This research work aims to show how Great Britain changes her policies and
principles according to her interests. This study investigates a specific period of the British
presence in India. It examines the main pretexts Britain used to enter India and the major
historical events that led to the British shift of power. This dissertation aims at refuting British
claims of developing and improving India and confirming on the richness and greatness of
Indian civilization. At first, the British presence in India was justified by commercial mission
under what was called Mercantilism. The East India Company was the agent of the British
mercantilism in the sub-continent. It monopolized Indian trade for more than two centuries.
The Indian Mutiny of 1857 ended the company’s domination. Due to the rebellion, Great
Britain was compelled to adopt a new policy called imperialism. Through it, Britain imposed
a direct control over India. |

Résumé : |
Throughout my research paper, I will identify the causes behind the rise of the
industrial revolution in the European countries and the world in general and the United States
of America in particular, between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. I will try to discuss
both the negative and the positive impact of the industrial revolution in America 1860-1914
on American society and especially children, as they were utilized as a source of employment
in many fields, mainly in cotton mills and coal mines. America's entry into a new era relied
heavily on the access to the world of industry that sapped a lot of the efforts of the working
class, who suffered under the mercy of the bourgeois class for many years. One of the most
important phenomena that prevailed at that time was "child labor". Factory owners, mine and
land owners have exploited childhood innocence and their need to earn money to support
their destitute families and employ them in various works that goes over their ages and
physical energies in the worst conditions. and gave them symbolic wages in return. A number
of social reformers and politicians resorted to the formation of organizations to lift the
suffering of the children and defend their rights until today to ensure them a promising future |

Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
This study outlines the theories and the conceptions of gender differences that have affected
both the society and the American modern civil rights movement that seek to make the notion
of inequality dwindle. Furthermore, it serves to show the achievements and actions of
African- American women and, which have been obliterated such as the case of Ella Baker
,Fannie Lou Hamer and Septima Clark. Through the civil rights movement, black women
affirmed their strength, capabilities and persistent efforts to bring about changes and acquire
civil rights. To fight for the liberation of blacks, black women have to fight against any
oppression since racism and sexism assign people roles, based on stereotypes and supposed
attributes. |

BRITISH AND AMERICAN STUDIES SUBMITTED FULFILLMENT REQUIRMENTS |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
This work covers an analysis of the Nine Eleven aftermath on America. The 9/11
tragedy took place in the very first months of George W. Bush presidency. It brought about a
new type of threat, both on the national and the international scene. This dissertation focuses
on health problems arising from the September 11th attacks. It also studies American society
and economy, as well as, the making of U.S domestic policy in post 9/11 U.S. the concern of
this research is to examine the outcomes of these incidents on U.S citizens and the
government response in the domestic sphere. Terrorism definition, its historical background
in America, and the September 11th attacks, is the major concern of the first chapter. A
considerable portion in this chapter deals with symbolism as a central concept in these
attacks. The second chapter, however, centers on health problems and economic effects of
these assaults. The third chapter, ultimately, concerns social reaction provoked by the assaults
in addition to U.S government’s responses focusing on the domestic policy making process |

Résumé : |
This work discuses the slave rebellion and resistance in the United States. It is an
attempt to shed light on the great struggle of the slaves to gain their freedom. This research
deals with the historical background of slavery in America, and describes the lamentable
transportation of the African slaves across the Atlantic Ocean. In addition, it shows the slave
harsh treatment in America in which they suffered socially and economically. This work is
based on the rise of the Abolitionist Movement, and revolves around the role of the most
prominent Abolitionist leaders to help slaves. Moreover, it reveals the various slave uprising
strategies and tactics to escape from the slavery system. This study also probes over the
election of Abraham Lincoln and the Southern States secession from the nation. Besides, it
examines the main reasons behind the outbreak of the Civil War, and the role of the President
Lincoln in prohibiting slavery through the Emancipation Proclamation and the ratification of
the Thirteen Amendment to abolish slavery in America. Finally, this research tries to show the
