This study is divided into three main chapters. The first chapter as well examines the historical background that brought forward the Labour government in 1945, focusing on the failure of the Conservative party to prevail the welfare development to the British citizens after the great wars that Britain had gone through - WWI, WW2, besides the economic crisis of 1929. The second chapter examines the 1945 general election, that gave the Labour party the majority. Showing the impact that this victory had on the British society. The third chapter examines one of the most needed elements in society which is the National Health Service which came into existence in Britain during 1948 under the Labour minister Bevan. This chapter expounds upon the creation of the NHS in 1948, and the impact it had on the British people and whether it was a success.
