Résumé : |
Linguistic insecurity is an important issue for most foreign language learners, which hinders the learning process. The present study aims to investigate the difficulties that second year EFL learners at Frères Mentouri University face in oral classrooms. It attempts to suggest some solutions and strategies to mitigate the learners‟ insecurity. To achieve this aim, it has been hypothesised that if the causes of linguistic insecurity were pinpointed and the level of anxiety, shyness and lack of confidence that EFL students face were reduced, their oral performance would be enhanced. To check the validity of the stated hypothesis, a questionnaire has been administrated to a random sample of second year students of English as a foreign language at Frères Mentouri University. The obtained results have revealed that EFL learners face many difficulties when speaking such as anxiety, lack of confidence, some incorrect pronunciation and ungrammaticality. The research work ends up by suggesting a set of solutions - such as relaxation, group work and discussion - to overcome those problems |
