Résumé : |
Learning vocabulary is a hard task which needs effective strategies and efforts at every
moment to be maintained. We believe that educational games could help and encourage
students to sustain their interest and work . The present study aims at pointing out the role of
educational games in learning vocabulary. The purpose is that to determine whether students’
knowledge of vocabulary would be improved when teachers use educational games. Hence,
our particular interest in this study is the use of educational games to teach vocabulary. We
are especially interested in the views of teachers and learners about the use of games. To
achieve this objective, we used the questionnaire as an instrument of research. Thus, we
administered two questionnaires, for both, teachers and students. Students’ questionnaire was
administered to a sample of (50) students, to know the different attitudes of first-year English
students at the Department of English at El-Oued University about the use of games in
learning new words. Furthermore, we used questionnaires for (8) teachers of Oral and Written
expression, at the same department, the aim of using this questionnaire is to investigate the
effects of using games in teaching vocabulary. The results obtained from the two
questionnaires indicate the effectiveness of using educational games in teaching a language,
mainly teaching vocabulary. |
