It also scrutinizes whether Ralph Ellison is trying to reverberate the circumstances in which African Americans live throughout the three stages in living (education, work and politics) in America towards their attempts to accomplish individuality and conformity. Finally, it tries to prove that African Americans accept to be betrayed in order to be conform in the United States which caused them to be enslaved to each other and to white people without even recognizing it, in other words they become invisible and blind to society and to themselves Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8948 Invisibility and blindness in relation to betrayal and treachery in ralph ellison’s invisible man. Edna PontellierIndex. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The dissertation in hands attempts to portray the psychological sufferings of American
women in the late nineteenth century, through Chopin‟s protagonist in The Awakening, Edna
Pontellier. The study is divided into two parts; the first chapter is a general review of the
historical background about women‟s sufferings from gender segregation and deprivation of
many rights. This first chapter also deals with the beginnings of women rights movement.
The second chapter deals with Edna‟s gradual awakening and her struggle for love and
personal freedom. The novel foretells the life of a young lady who was living with her
husband like a machine that he owns, the young lady, Edna, starts to discover her body desires
and also her potentials when she was vacationing at Grand Isle with a young man and far from
her regular responsibilities and her bossy husband. The aim of my study is fulfilled when
dealing with Edna‟s change of mood and attitudes because it can be clearly understood that
male domination and society expectations caused women to suffer from her life before and
within marriage to her life during and after that summer vacation at Grand Isle.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5152 Kate chopin’s the awakening : A portrayal of women status in the late nineteenth century through the protagonist edna pontellier [texte imprimé] / Roufida nour el houda Toumi, Auteur ; Houria Aggabou, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2017 . - 61 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : The american dream under the materialistic aspect of capitalism in arthur miller’s play death of a salesman Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Zahia Zakraoui, Auteur ; Houria Aggabou, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2013 Importance : 53 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Civilization and Literature American Dream MaterialisticCapitalism Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This paper aims at demonstrating and analyzing the failure of the American Dream under
the materialistic aspect of Capitalism in Arthur Miller’s play Death of a Salesman. Miller’s
play is a perfect illustration of the conditions of the American family during the Great
Depression of 1930s and its aftermath.
The first chapter attempts to shed some light on the economic and social pressures on the
American family during the Great Depression and its impacts on the American society as a
whole. The second chapter is devoted to an investigation of Death of a Salesman as a
presentation of the concept of the American Dream and its effects on the American family.
This chapter deals with various samples that effectively represent the American Dream either
with its failure or with its success.
The conclusion shows how it is sometimes necessary to take into consideration some
historical aspects for an effective interpretation of literary works.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=3922 The american dream under the materialistic aspect of capitalism in arthur miller’s play death of a salesman [texte imprimé] / Zahia Zakraoui, Auteur ; Houria Aggabou, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2013 . - 53 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : The disillusion of the american dream from the dream to the nightmare in arthur miller’s death of a salesman Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Aicha Mimoun, Auteur ; Houria Aggabou, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2016 Importance : 49 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : British and American Studies Disillusion American Dream Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This dissertation deals with the disillusion of the American Dream in Death of Salesman by Arthur Miller. Having a clear idea about the notion of the American Dream is essential for a deep understanding of both American culture and literature. It refers to the ideals of the American nation such as democracy, equality, freedom and the pursuit of happiness. Throughout history, Americans attempted to realize their dream of success, with an extraordinary optimism and a blind faith in this dream which was created in the sixteenth century. The American Dream has been shaped by the people from various periods with some different perspectives; puritans were seeking religious freedom; black slaves were in pursuit of equality with white men, and twentieth century men were in search of material success. However, all these perspective although somehow different share one common aim; that of having a better future. Yet, the ways people pursuit their dreams have been different through generations as many changes took place in society, economically, politically and socially. My aim in this paper is to analyze and explain the different concepts of the American Dream throughout history and concentrate on the concept of the American Dream of the twentieth century within the context of the play. The play is about a salesman, Willy Loman, whose perception of the American Dream is very different from his father and his brother Ben and his father. Although Ben Loman and Father Loman adopted the concept of American Dream that believes in the importance of virtue and hard work, Willy Loman is rather persuaded that appearance and being well-liked are all what is required to be a successful businessman. However, these false concepts led him to melancholy and finally to death. Death of a salesman is a play that depicts the transformation of the American Dream into a nightmare because of the domination of capitalism and people's misinterpretation of the real meaning of the American Dream, by admiring exclusively the materialistic aspects of the modern life.
