The present study aims to shed light on semantic change in present-day English, the types of this change and the technological reason of this change. The study attempts thus to analyse texts from present-day English. On the other hand, the study aims to see whether the present-day English has changed, the types of semantic change used, and the reasons behind this change. To achieve this purpose our hypothesis is the technological advancement humankind has known lead to semantic change in the English language. Twenty-four words were chosen from electronic end technological texts. Moreover, for our research the analysis of texts is the means to gather data. The results obtained reveal that the technological revolution humankind has known lead to semantic change. The texts showed information about the change in the English language. The results show to never try to control or predict the changes that occur in the English language or any other language. |
