Résumé : |
The speaking skill is sensitive to different factors, namely learner-related and instructional
environment-related factors. This study aims at: first, investigating the role teacher play in
Oral Expression classrooms on students’ oral performances; and second, unveiling teachers’
and students’ attitudes towards the role of teachers in speaking sessions. For this, it was
hypothesized that if teachers adopt the role of facilitator; then learners’ will feel more
comfortable to use English and their speaking skill will be enhanced. To test the validity of
the hypothesis, data were gathered by means of one main research instrument; questionnaires
were administered to both teachers’ of Oral Expression and first year LMD students in the
Department of Letters and English Language, University Constantine. The analysis of the
questionnaire shows that teachers of oral Expression need to adapt themselves and play
different instructional roles depending on their students’ needs and learning material to help
improve their students’ oral production. |
