Résumé : |
This research work investigates the effect of using jigsaw cooperative learning strategy in
enhancing students’ reading comprehension. It aims at determining whether the students’
reading comprehension would be improved by using this strategy. To achieve the study aim, a
questionnaire and a test have been administered to a sample composed of two groups of first
year students, and a group of teachers, at the department of English, University –des Frères
Mentouri Constantine. The aim of the questionnaire is to elicit teachers’ attitudes towards the
importance of the cooperative learning strategy in developing learners’ understanding of
written material and the extent to which this strategy is used in classroom to promote reading
comprehension. The results have shown that jigsaw cooperative learning strategy could
improve students’ reading comprehension. Moreover, the results of the questionnaire and the
test confirmed the hypothesis that jigsaw cooperative learning strategy would develop
students’ reading comprehension, if it is applied in the classroom. |
