This paper tries to depict how the female heroes in each work searched for individuality and freedom by standing in the face of inappropriate social conventions. Each plot shows that the clash between the turning loose of the heroine and the social conformity is essential for the establishment of the female autonomous identity. Chopin also depicts how women should take over their lives to fulfill their desires, which are in her case usually tabooing subjects of women’s sexual urge and sensual experiences. Intense need for change leads the women to walk a new life path for all the times they have been treated as culprits for the sense of freedom and pleasure.
