Learners of English as a Foreign Language face the problem of not understanding scientific texts when reading them due to technical words which may make their learning of the language incomplete. The aim of the present study is to investigate the role of using language games in teaching science vocabulary on reading comprehension of scientific texts. In this respect, the underlying hypothesis is: if ESP teachers use language games in teaching science vocabulary, learners will comprehend better when reading scientific texts. To confirm or reject this hypothesis, data was gathered by designing two questionnaires to teachers of ESP teachers and first year students. Both questionnaires aimed at investigating teachers and students’ attitudes towards the role of using language games in teaching science vocabulary on reading comprehension of scientific texts. Data driven from the questionnaires have confirmed that there is a relation between language games and reading comprehension of scientific texts which affirm the research hypothesis. Thus, using language games as a technique to teach science vocabulary is effective |
