The present research intends to investigate the role of creative teaching/learning methods in enhancing a learner’s critical thinking. It reports on the effect of creative teaching/ learning on students’ critical thinking process. The underlying hypothesis is that if teachers implement creative teaching/ learning methods in their EFL classes, this would help their students develop their critical thinking. This investigation takes place in the Department of Letters and English Language, Faculty of Letters and Languages, University Des Frères Mentouri Constantine. A group of 40 learners chosen randomly from a total population of about 265 master 1 students that constitute the sample in the present study. To achieve the aim of the undertaken research, answer the research questions, and attempt to confirm the validity of the hypothesis, we use a structured interview for both teachers and students. The teachers’ structured interview seeks to identify the role of integrating innovative teaching pedagogies in developing their learners’ critical thinking. Besides, the students’ structured interview aims to collect data about students’ awareness of their thinking type and their opinions about applying such innovative methods to help them become critical thinkers. The findings of the investigation confirm the hypothesis, and show that the application of innovative methods is an effective approach to develop critical thinking. Therefore, on the basis of the findings, we proposed some implications to steer the learners towards improving their thinking and to encourage teachers to opt for more innovative teaching pedag |
