The study is designed to explore the areas of continuity and change in the conduct of the U.S. foreign policy before the coming of Reagan into the White House. Subsequently, it depicts the essentials of his ideology and its effects on his diplomacy, mainly his administration‟s diplomacy toward Nicaragua. It investigates the formulation of the „Reagan Doctrine‟ and its execution in raising funds to the Nicaraguan Contras that were fighting the Communist regime in power.
