The purpose of choosing this subject is to examine the figure of black women and their position in the society and identify the problems of third world black women. And to show the impact of White man and the patriarchy. The black women in A Grain Of Wheat remain silent as life-partner, as mother, and as fighters. Also Ngugi wa thiongo draw attention to the oppression and discrimination against black women and how they began to move from ignorance of the other to better life and good situation which means the rebirth of black women and they started to acquire new identities.
