Résumé : |
The aim of this dissertation is to discover the relation between women and witchcraft and to investigate in the feminization of evil. This dissertation is a feminist reading of witchcraft in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible to find out whether the evil is described as something residing in the women who started the witch mania or in undisclosed motive behind the accusations. This current paper goes into the history of witchcraft and its relation with religions, mainly Christianity; it highlights the reasons why women are directly related with witchcraft. In addition to that, the real events of Salem witch trials 1692 are reported. The feminist reading for the play is to show that evil has no relation with gender and that is something inner in personal agendas. |
