It aims also to demonstrate the the power of media and analyze media’s subliminal messages sent to shape people’s opinion about certain issues. This research will focus on African American community and discuss media depictions of blacks in 1970 and 1980 through analyzing television programs, movies and mainly Blaxploitation Movies , where there is not a great cultural uniformity taking the “Color Purple movie” as a case study to examine the popular blacks‘s stereotypes at that time. Accordingly, the movie shows the interrelations between media and racism besides surveying the history and genealogy of Blaxploitation movies and their impact on American youth and black’s self perception.
