Dalloway Mental Disturbance |

Résumé : |
The aim of this work is to examine how much Virginia Woolf's life
influenced her writings, mainly her selected novel Mrs. Dalloway. ln this novel,
Woolf criticizes the people of the upper-class and makes fun of their lives. She
also shows the negative effects of the First World War on the British society. To
further explain these effects she draws a parallel between two characters one
sane, the other insane. This parallel enables her to compare and contrast the
lives of two people from different classes. She also uses it to explain that the
distance between sanity and insanity is short and that the concerns of the sane
and insane are similar. Woolf has created Septimus as Clarissa's double, but in
fact they are both her own doubles. Thus this work depends on psychoanalysis to
reveal the similarity between Virginia Woolf and her characters |
